Description Serves oil-fields and economic facilities in the
UAE and other Arab states. Also provides other services,
including, fire fighting, crop dusting, aerial photography,
seismic survey, search and rescue and medical evacuation.
History Formed as a joint venture between majority
shareholder, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and a single foreign
investor, with start-up capital of AED 2 million. Initially
operated two helicopters. Became a national joint-stock
company with a capital of AED 60 million on 20 November
1982. The Abu Dhabi government retained a 30%
shareholding. Launched fixed-wing operations in 1991.
A third-party maintenance facility was opened in 1994.
Maximus Air Cargo, the UAE’s largest dedicated cargo
airline, became a sister company in November 2008,
when the Abu Dhabi Aviation Group acquired a majority
shareholding. Another sister company, Royal Jet, was
established as a joint-venture with the Amiri Flight in 2003,
to offer global VIP and executive flight services.
